On the occasion of the sixty fifth anniversary of the students’ strike that happened in the liberation war, Algiers 2 University Abou Elkacem Saâdallah, organized a ceremony about the student day through a rich and varied programme on Monday May, 19th, 2021 at the conference room of Building C. The event took place with the presence of all of the University officials, the Wali Delegate of Bouzaréah circumscription and the civil and security authorities’ representatives.
The ceremony started by the flag raise and the listening to the national anthem. It has been proceeded, afterwards, to the inauguration of the commemorative plaque of the Algerian revolution poet, Moufdi Zakaria, in Building C hall, followed by the visit of the exhibition a historical photographs and entrepreneurship open doors.
At the Grand auditorium, the University Rector, Pr Said Boumaiza, thanked in his address all those who participated in organizing this event, giving the floor to Mr. Djamel Eddine Hashas, the Wali delegate of Bouzaréah circumscription, who spoke about the maturity of students during the liberation war, and added that they embraced the revolution principles and participated in it.
The day programme consisted on the screening of the poet profile, Moufdi Zakaria, and a documentary about the May 19th, 1956 students’ strike.
The event included also a lecture about the need of religion for liberating peoples, gave by Sheikh Yahia Sari, member of the Relief Committee of the Association of Algerian Muslim Ulema, then another one about the students’ participation in the revolution, gave by Pr. Bachir Saadouni, followed by some national chants intoned by the students, who also recited poems from the Iliad of Algeria. .
The ceremony was closed by paying tributes to social associates and to the participating teachers.
