In the context of reviving the national historical events, Algiers 2 University organized a lecture on the May 8th, 1945 massacres, which took place on May 8th, 2022 at the conference room of Building C.
The event started by raising the flag and laying a wreath of flowers after reciting Alfatiha to the memory of Chouhada, followed by the speech of the University Rector Pr. Said Boumaiza, which he gave in the grand auditorium. In his word, the Rector spoke about the massacres perpetrated by the French coloniser against Algerian people in most regions of the country, especially in Sétif, Guelma and Kherrata. The French police suppressed the pacific demonstrations of the latter in the aftermath of the allies’ victory declaration in the Second World War, resulting consequently the killing of thousands of defenceless people.
The event included the screening of a video on the events of May 8th, 1945 and a lecture of Professor Ali Tablit entitled “The genocide of May 8th, 1945 events and the struggle for memory”, in which he talked about the different stages of the Algerian resistance against the French occupier.
