The laboratory of African studies of the faculty of humanities from Algiers -2- University Abou El Kacem Saâdallah organized on the 25th of May 2023, a national colloquium on the subject of the crimes committed by the European colonization in sub-Saharan Africa.
Professor Kamel Mounir, Vice-rector of the University for post-graduation and scientific research, alongside Professor MoncefBekaï, president of the colloquium, inaugurated the event with a speech in which they presented the objectives expected from the colloquium.
The activities subsequently started, including various scientific sessions presented by a group of professors from different national institutions of higher education. Their interventions focused on issues related to the topic of the colloquium, followed by an open discussion.
The colloquium included four axes, the first addressing the European colonial invasion in Africa within the framework of international humanitarian law (IHL), the second focusing on the ideological crimes of colonization, while the third axis focused on the crimes of genocide in sub-Saharan Africa. Finally, the fourth axis covered the cultural and economic crimes of colonization in Africa.
The event concluded with the presentation of a set of recommendations.
