A National Colloquium entitled "Forty Years of Language Didactics”

    On May 16th and 17th, 2023, a national conference entitled "Forty Years of Language Didactics” was organizedby the Laboratory of Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, and Language Didactics at the University of Algiers 2, in collaboration with the Scientific and Technical Research Center for the Development of Arabic Language (CRSTDLA).The event took place in the main conference room in Bouzareah.

   The University’s Rector, Professor Saïd Boumaïza inaugurated the activities with a speech in which he emphasized the significance of the colloquium’s theme, which has generated interest among researchers, linguists, language didacticians, teachers, educational inspectors. Subsequently, the proceedings were officially opened.

   In his part, The Dean of the Faculty of Arabic Language & Art and Oriental Languages, Professor Ali Bournisa, delivered a speech in which he noted the importance of the discussed subject & showed his gratitude to the organizers as well as the participating teachers.

   The national colloquium held in tribute to Professor Khawla Taleb Al-Ibrahimi, was chaired by Professor Cherifa Ghattas. The speakers addressed three main topics: The teaching of oral language, where teachers discussed strategies and teaching methods of oral language skillsat different levels of education regarding it as a fundamental tool to shape future citizens, as well as spoken language teaching at the university level. The second topic focused on the teaching of written language, where discussions revolved around reading strategies for elementary school students& the analysis of various approaches to teaching reading and literature across different educational levels, including higher education. As for the third topic, teachers addressed subjects such as the training of language teaching trainers, as well as the role of higher schools and language departments at universities.

   It is worth mentioning that the meeting included presentations in all three languages: Arabic, English & French, and concluded witha set of best practices &recommendations.
