In the framework of the cultural exchange between Algeria and Japan, the University of Algiers 2 welcomed on Monday, May 15th, 2023, the cultural attaché of the Embassy of Japan in Algeria, Mr. Yuma Yamamoto, along with the Japanese university teacher of history, Prof. Kisaishi Masatoshi. The latter gave lecture on the "Historical Relations between Algeria and Japan" at Moufdi Zakaria Conference room, located in Building D in Bouzaréah.
The meeting started by the cultural attaché of the embassy, Mr. Yuma Yamamoto, who delivered his speech in which he expressed his gratitude to the University of Algiers 2 for their collaboration in enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.
On his part, the Rector of the University, Pr. Saïd Boumaïza, delivered also a speech to praise this initiative, emphasizing its significance as an opportunity for increasing the cultural exchange between the two countries. He also extended a warm welcome to Mr. Kisaishi Masatoshi, and wished him a pleasant stay in Algeria.
The Japanese professor began the conference in which he discussed the deep historical relations between Algeria and Japan, and presented his study on Algerian history « The resistance of Sufi paths and Zaouïas against the colonisation in Algeria, as well as the political orientations and the Algerian national movement through the analysis of Sufi path journals and Al-Rouh newspaper ».
Then, the Professor of History at Algiers 2 Univertsity, Pr Mouloud Aouimer, gave a lecture in which he explained how the Japanese historian makes his research in history, he pointed out that he begins by learning the language of the country he is studying and lives in that society, then he starts writing, which is the case of the university teacher Mr. Kisaishi Masatoshi.
At the end of the meeting, the floor was opened to teachers and students to ask their questions. Following that, the University Rector concluded the meeting by honoring the Japanese teacher Kisaishi Masatoshi.
