Algiers 2 University hosted on April 12th & 13th, 2023 Dr. Hakan Oniz, Professor and Head of the Department of Restoration and Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the Faculty of Arts at Akdeniz University in Antalya, Turkey. The event took place at the conference room Moufdi Zakaria, where he delivered two lectures on underwater archaeology in Turkey, and the modern and technological techniques used in its excavation and study.
The Turkish professor also met with Dr. Othman Meftah, Director of Archaeology Institute, to discuss the possibility of collaboration between the two universities. They talked about the future potential for establishing a third department at the Institute of Archaeology at Algiers 2 University, focused on the study of marine archaeology and underwater cultural heritage.
It's worth noting that the meeting was organized in the context of the exchange projects of Erasmus + programme between Algiers 2 University and Akdeniz University.
