The Sub-directorate of Scientific, Cultural and Sporting Events of Algiers 2 University celebrated on January 10th, 2023 the Amazigh New Year 2973. The programme of the event was rich; it took place in the grand-auditorium with the participation of the University’ Scientific Clubs.
The programme started by the launching of chess and table tennis competition that were organised on the occasion, adding to exhibiting crafts and traditional cooking relating to the events. Another exhibition of books and photos and a corner simulating Yennayer atmosphere in Kabylia and South of Algeria took place.
In the conference room, the Deputy-director of Scientific, Cultural and Sporting Activities, Mr Belahda Sidali delivered his welcoming speech, in which he specified that our country’s resources is due to the diversity of it traditions which we must preserve.
For his part, the Vice-rector of Pedagogy, Pr Salah Laboudi spoke about the importance of these events for the construction of the personality of the Algerian citizen. A conference was given by Pr Remita Ahmed on the Algerian national identity development and the stages it has gone through to become what it is today.
The programme included a video presentation on the Amazigh New Year and a quiz on Amazigh proverbs and wisdoms, adding to listening to kabyle songs performed by students.
The activity ended by giving tribute to the participants and winners of the sports competitions that were organized on this occasion.
