Celebration of the World Arabic Language Day

On the occasion of the World Arabic Language Day celebrated each year on 18 December, Algiers 2 University Scientific Club “Edhad Club for Science and Knowledge”, celebrated the event with a rich and varied programme. The activity took place on December 18th, 2022 at the grand-auditorium.  

In a speech delivered at the opening of the activity, the Deputy-director of the Scientific, Cultural and Sporting Activities, Mr Belahda Sidali, specified that the Arabic language is one of most wide spread and spoken languages in the world, an innovative language because of its style, both in spoken and written, adding to its calligraphy and poetry. He also called the students to learn it.   

The activity included a paper of Dr Kadri Amine, entitled “The Language of Clarity in the Age of Ambiguity”, and the paper of Mr Raouf Mechroum on the role of Arabic language in the orientation of thought. Another paper on the reality and prospects of teaching the Arabic language in Algeria was given by the president of the University Scientific Club «Nadi Essabil Ethakafi ».

The activity programme included various animations, as well as “the short story”, “Similarities in languages”, “Questions and challenges”, in addition to reading poems by the students.   

A tribute was paid to the former deputy-director of the Scientific, Cultural and Sporting Activities, Mrs Yasmina Chérif on the occasion of her retirement, and then the activity concluded with the announcement of the winners of poetry competition.
