A minute of silence in tribute to the chouhada of October 17th, 1960 massacres at Algiers 2 University

The heads and executives of Algiers 2 University observed a minute of silence in tribute to the chouhada of October 17th, 1961 massacres in Paris. The minute of silence took place at 11am of October 17th, 2021 at the Central Library patio.

The events of October 17th, 1961 are an answer to the violent repression of the pacific demonstrations which were organized by the French Muslims from Algeria in Paris, at the call of the National Liberation Front (FLN) to a peaceful protest against the curfew imposed by the Prefect of police in Paris, Maurice Papon.

It’s noteworthy that the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has decreed a minute of silence at 11am of each October 17th throughout the country.
