The Translation Institute of University of Algiers 2 organized on October 15th and 16th 2019 at Amphitheatre of Building C of Bouzaréah the First International Conference on Methods of Research in Audio Visual Translation. This Conference was held with the participation of more than forty teachers and specialists in AVT field who came from UAE, Qatar, Spain, France, Great Britain, Poland, Switzerland, Hungary and from various universities of the country.
Before announcing the official opening of the Conference, the Vice-rector of Prospective and Orientation, Pr. Abdelkarim Azzoug, made his speech and welcomed the present. In his address, he pointed out the importance of the subject in today’s world where the audio visual became the best way of information. He considers more over that this meeting is an opportunity to exchange the experiences and ideas on the mentioned topic, which opens new research horizons in this field.
The Head of Translation Institute, Dr. Adila Ben Aouda, stated in her address that the idea of the conference came after a long discussion with Dr. Khadidja Merakchi on the implementation of a new educational template on translation and Audio Visual Translation methods. The Head of the Institute delivered an opening conference on Audio Visual Translation in Algeria, reality and perspectives.
This conference aims to exchange experiences in this new field of translation and broaden the experience of the Institute in order to open a Master in AVT at University of Algiers 2.
The conference included seven main lines, namely: Research methodology and new trends in AVT studies; AVT training: curricula, needs, and training tools, AVT and new technologies, Funsubbing and fundubbing: a quality issue ora legal issue? ; Reception research and audience needs, History of AVT, censorship and manipulation.
On the sidelines of the conference, training workshops for teachers and researchers on research and professional practice techniques in Audio Visual Translation have been arranged.
