The University of Algiers 2 Abou El Kacem Saâdallah opened officially the Accademic Year 2019-2020 on September 22nd; 2019 at the Grand Auditorium of Bouzaréah.
The opening ceremony was started by the presentation of the University and the different offered specialties to make them known to the new students, followed by the address of the Vice-rector in charge of Pedagogy in which he welcomed the present and focused on the need of the application of the theory of human relations in administrative management and the union of all, namely teachers, students and the organizations for both progress and smooth running of the university as well as the perfect exploitation of university spaces. Besides, the Vice-rector recommended the students to consult the LMD system statute.
For his part, the University Rector Pr. Ammar Manaa, thanked the present in his address and introduced his roadmap concerning the management of the university, under the emblem ‘For a responsible Algerian university’. He explained that we need an exceptional experience to build a new Algerian university whose main mission is to train competent students who are ready to integrate the professional life and open up to the outside world.
In the other hand, the Rector pointed on the importance of creating a documentation digital centre in each department, fed by the teachers according to the taught module and activating communication between students, teachers and administrative and pedagogical staff through digital platforms, in order to modernize the University management. He emphasised also the importance of computerising the administrative and pedagogical departments to reduce the consumption of paper.
Furthermore, he focused on the coordination with Algerian universities as well as university and public libraries, in order to digitalise the publications and put them at the disposal of students, researchers and teachers.
He spoke, besides, about the need of supporting the teacher supervisors in master and PhD cycles and encourage the teachers to present more detailed programs on taught modules, in addition to work to improve the work conditions of the teachers in research laboratories as proposed by their managers.
Moreover, he referred to organising the university journals according to what is in effect in the world universities, and to improve the performance of the University Library and enhance the efforts concerning the classification of the University both nationally and internationally.
He talked as well about the necessity to make the university a space of free, serious and useful debate, and improve the administrative staff conditions, in addition to train continuously the officials and motivating students to revive the cultural and sporting activities and participating in student events in national and international levels.
The Rector concluded his address by announcing the official opening of the Academic Year 2019-2020 by wishing the students full success.
