The University of Algiers 2, in collaboration with the German Embassy in Algeria, organized on November 13th, 2019 in the Grand-Auditorium, a study day entitled “Thirty years after Berlin wall fall”, with the presence of Her Excellency the Ambassador of Germany Mrs. Ulrike Knotz, the Cultural Attaché of German Embassy, the University Rector and Vice-rectors and a number of teachers and students.
The study day has been opened by the address of the University Rector, Pr. Ammar Manaa, who spoke about Berlin wall construction circumstances, the crisis origins and the exodus crisis of East Germany to West Germany, as well as the diplomatic battles during the Cold War.
The Ambassador of Germany, on her part, mentioned Berlin wall fall circumstances such as the end of the socialist economic system in Germany, the emigration of a hundred million German citizens abroad and the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Besides, the day has included the presentation of a theatrical play and the projection of a documentary film on Algerians who lived during the period the division of Germany.
